Hart Lagoon Walking and Driving Trail
Hart Lagoon is situated close to Waikerie and adjacent to the Waikerie river front and caravan park.
It is a wetland of significance and interest within the Waikerie township and represents a site of important environmental value, due to the habitat it provides for native flora and fauna and is great for birdwatching.
Visitors to Hart Lagoon can take a drive along the Murray River on Ricciuto Road or alternatively, there is a walking track which loops around the lagoon.
Hart Lagoon wetland has a managed wetting and drying cycle as part of the ecological function of the wetland. During wetting cycles many wetland birds and wildlife can be seen in the area. During drying cycles dry land and wetland wildlife can be seen.
